CHENNAI: An interior road in Mylapore which was newly laid only about six months ago, has now been dug up by TNEB for underground utility work. The TNEB did not get a written permission from the civic body and has not paid the compensation for digging up the roads.
Second Street in East Abhiramapuram was relaid only in October-November 2021, said residents. “Just a few years ago, they dug very near this spot to lay a permanent underground utility conduit for taking the cables across. Neither the corporation cares about keeping records of what was done nor the EB higher-ups care less about asking if there is any provision for taking the cables across,” said Sridhar Venkatraman, a resident of the locality.
