During the trial related to the tragic incident on the set of the film 'Rust' in 2021, it was clarified that Halnya Hutchins, the film's cinematographer who lost her life, was not killed during the filming of a scene. This revelation came to light during the cross-examination by prosecutor Kari Morrissey.
Marissa Poppell, a crime scene technician for the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department, confirmed in her testimony that Ms. Hutchins was not killed while filming a scene. Poppell also mentioned that she had taken photos of scene paperwork discovered at the church set where the shooting occurred.
