December arabica coffee (KCZ26) closed up +19.00 (+5.89%) today, and September ICE robusta coffee (RMU26) closed up +192 (+5.34%).
Coffee prices rallied sharply on Monday, with arabica soaring to a 7.5-month high and robusta posting a 1.5-week high. The slow pace of Brazil’s coffee harvest is keeping supplies tight and underpinning prices. Last Wednesday, Brazil’s Cooxupe co-op reported that 81.1% of the harvest was complete as of Aug 14, up 7 points from the prior week but still down slightly from 86.1% a year earlier. Also, Safras & Mercado reported on August 14 that the Brazil 2026/27 coffee harvest was 90% completed as of August 12, behind 97% last year and the 5-year average of 94%. Brazil's arabica coffee harvest was 86% complete, behind last year's 95%.
