You can stop all the constant looking around for The Next Amy Winehouse, because she’s right here. Mega is her name — and mega-stardom is her destiny. Earlier this year she was one of the highlights at Little Simz’ Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre and a new EP has established her as a soul-pop star with songwriting to match her remarkable voice.
Mega is from north London and realised she had talent while singing in the same gospel choir Simz had been in. However, a throat condition meant she couldn’t sing for three years — she studied psychology at university, gathered her sense of self and eventually released her debut single, Chariot.
