The future of a 'rough' Nottinghamshire pub has been decided. The Yew Tree pub, on Nottingham Road, Hucknall, can now be converted into nine separate self-contained flats after it was given approval by Ashfield District Council on January 26.
The plan had been recommended by council officers for approval ahead of a planning committee on October 26, but the decision was postponed until recently. The decision was delegated to the chair and vice chair of the committee at the meeting, with the developers required to include a parking space, electrical charging point, and measures to prevent vehicles parking to the front of the premises before permission could be granted.
The boozer ceased trading in early 2022 after struggling throughout the Covid pandemic, according to planning documents. The existing building has living accommodation at first floor which comprises of a self-contained three-bedroom flat with associated living space, with storage space at second floor level.
