PATIALA: Dilapidated roads in Chamkaur Sahib — the hometown of Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi — is a key issue among the constituents while some projects of widening or strengthening of roads have become a nuisance for the public.
Take the example of Morinda-Chamkaur Sahib-Bela road. The project of widening the road was approved in 2020, but it started in March last year. The 20 km stretch is completely dilapidated and the soil at both the sides of road stretch is dug out at around two feet depth. This has also become a reason for mishaps occurring on the road while some of the commuters have also allegedly got injuries.
