A fair and glowing skin gives a hundred reasons to feel happy and confident. Every day you wake up to wash your face and wonder whether your skin is oily, has pores, dark spots, pimples and tanning. How would you give your best when your day starts with a sigh! It's perfectly normal for the skin to become dry or oily due to various factors, such as the type of skin and weather conditions. Especially in summer, our skin experiences humidity, pollutants and sweat. Summertime means scorching heat waves, contaminants and harmful UV rays. Thinking about these factors is enough to chill your spine! Beauty Guru, Shahnaz Husain shares insights on summer skincare.
Skin layers: The skin is the largest organ in your body! It's a fact many people don't know, but getting to know your body is significant. Human skin consists of three layers, i.e., epidermis, dermis and hypodermis (also known as the fatty layer). The dermis is the second layer that consists of the glands, blood vessels and the protein fibres like collagen, which keeps the skin firm. The minerals and nutrients are diffused from the blood vessels and also keep the skin healthy and fresh. The epidermis is the topmost layer that you can touch and is exposed to external stimuli, which affect the skin. However, it depends upon the skincare routine, which helps maintain a good texture. Since the skin is made of water, minerals, nutrients and fats, skincare through a good diet, disciplined routine and healthy lifestyle are essential to nourish and revitalize these minerals and vitamins. The surface of the skin has open pores of sweat and oil glands. The sebaceous gland is responsible for the secretion of natural oil called sebum. This gland is attached to the hair follicle and helps in keeping the outer layer of the skin hydrated and protects it against dry patches and wrinkles. The skin's oiliness depends upon genes, place of origin and skincare routine. You could inherit an oily skin type if your parents have oily skin. It's normal, and you don't have to worry about it. Moreover, look at the brighter side; you will not age soon!
