An Edinburgh dog owner was left terrified after an SSPCA scam targeted them at their home.

The animal charity is now warning the public to be vigilant after a member of the public received a letter claiming to be from the charity accusing them of abusing their dog.

On January 19, the elderly owner had received a letter to their home in Duddingston area, which appeared to be official and claimed they had been caught showing abuse to their pet.
