Former Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will sign a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Monday.
Miami plans to have Bridgewater serve as their backup behind Tua Tagovailoa. Bridgewater’s new contract with the Dolphins won’t become official until the NFL’s new league year begins on Wednesday.
Bridgewater (6-2, 215 pounds) had a promising start to his career with the Minnesota Vikings, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2015. His career then had a major setback in 2016 when he suffered a serious ACL injury that caused him to miss nearly two full seasons.
