Police are continuing an intense search of the Northern Territory's Larapinta Trail for a 64-year-old man who's been missing for 10 days.

Victorian man Alistair Thomson began hiking alone on the trail west of Alice Springs on May 13 and hasn't been heard from since May 21 when he sent a text saying he was planning to go to Hugh Gorge the following day.
