Ford Motor Company is recalling a small number of 2026 Explorer SUVs after discovering an engine defect that could cause the vehicle to suddenly lose power or potentially leak oil, creating both crash and fire risks.
The recall, identified as NHTSA campaign 26V532000, was reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on August 13, 2026. It applies to certain 2026 Ford Explorer vehicles equipped with the 2.3-liter engine. Only six vehicles are potentially affected, making this an unusually small recall, but the possible consequences of the defect make it important for owners of affected SUVs to complete the repair.
