The front row of the first race of the 2025 F1 season will be draped in papaya, with the reigning Constructors’ Champions seizing first and second on the grid in Melbourne through Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The defending world champion in Max Verstappen, however, lies ready to pounce in third, with another would-be-champion in George Russell starting next to him on the second row.
Ferrari, meanwhile, will have to make do with the fourth row – some alarm bells potentially ringing as they struggled to replicate the pace of their rivals as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were gazumped by Yuki Tsunoda and Alex Albon.
Add to all this the rain that is expected to descend on Melbourne, tomorrow, and it looks like we’re set for a memorable GP. I’ll be back then to take you through all that action but, for now, I’ve been Joey Lynch and it’s goodbye for now.
