- General Motors will reportedly update the powertrains in its heavy-duty pickups for the 2027 model year.
- The new powertrains, including a Duramax diesel engine, will arrive before the automaker launches the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD.
- GM's next-generation heavy-duty trucks are not expected until 2029.
General Motors updated its two full-size pickup trucks earlier this year. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 received major makeovers, including updated powertrains. We expect many of the styling changes to carry over to their heavy-duty counterparts, but before that happens, the automaker might launch new engines in the current-generation trucks.
