PRAYAGRAJ: In view of the depleting ground water level, both in urban as well as rural areas of Prayagraj, the district administration has undertaken several measures to ensure that the all the 23 blocks of the district as well as the main city remain under 'safe' category in terms of the water level.
Owing to the sustainable efforts, the situation of ground water level in as many as five rural blocks of the district has improved. These blocks, which were earlier under the critical category, are now under safe zones. The blocks are Holagarh, Mauaima, Chaka, Bahadurpur and Dhanupur. The groundwater crisis in the district has always been catered to by the district administration, and the efforts of the past two decades have shown positive results. From initiating action which would enhance the level of underground water by digging more ponds to collect rainwater, the administration has paid much attention to make common man, especially village folks, more aware in respect to increasing underground water level.
