Lean hog futures posted losses of 20 cents to $1.70 across most contracts. Open interest was down 2,487 contracts. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $97.37 on Thursday afternoon, up $1.56 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down a nickel on August 11 at $95.89.
Weekly Export Sales data showed 36,335 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on August 6, a 6-week high. Mexico was the buyer of 14,200 MT, with Japan in for 6,400 MT. Shipments were pegged at 30,632 MT, also a 3-week low. Mexico was the top destination of 15,100 MT, with 3,900 MT to Japan.
