MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council has given a 'below average' rating to the pitch for the first Test between India and West Indies, which was played from July 12-14 at the Windsor Park in Roseau in the Caribbean. Former New Zealand captain Jeff Crowe was the match referee for that game.
On a treacherous turning track, India bowled out West Indies for 150, with the visitors' spinners R Ashwin (5-60) & Ravindra Jadeja (3-26) taking nine wickets between them. India, in reply, made 421 for 5 declared, before bowling out the beleaguered hosts for merely 130 in 50.3 overs in the second innings, as Ashwin, who finished with 12 for 131 in the match, ran riot with seven for 71. The match finished inside three days.
