Jeremy Paxman has confirmed he is to step down as the host of University Challenge after 28 years on the show.
The 72-year-old broadcaster, who has presented the show since 1994, will film his last episode this autumn and his final series will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from Monday August 29 through to summer ’23.
Paxman says: “I’ve had a blast hosting this wonderful series for nearly 29 years. I’ve been lucky enough to work with an amazing team and to meet some of the swottier brains in the country. It gives me hope for the future.”
