Kamala Harris' unexpected journey to choose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate was a unique and rapid process. With President Joe Biden endorsing Harris for a second term, the Democrats found themselves in an unplanned vice-presidential search. The compressed timeline forced Harris and her team to make a critical decision in just 16 days, a task that typically takes months.
The selection process involved intense behind-the-scenes research, debates, and interviews with potential candidates. Simultaneously, public campaigning and media appearances by contenders added to the pressure. The need to balance demographics and electoral politics played a significant role in the selection criteria.
