Earnings calendar recap: Salesforce

(Image credit: Joan Cros/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

Salesforce (CRM) is the worst-performing Dow Jones stock of the year so far, down 33% through the May 27 close. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) pioneer appears poised for more downside, too, following the Wednesday evening release of its fiscal 2027 first-quarter earnings report.

For the three months ended April 30, the company reported earnings of $3.88 per share, up 50% year over year (YoY), on revenue of $11.1 billion (+13% YoY). Analysts expected CRM to report earnings of $3.13 per share on revenue of $11.1 billion.

Salesforce also gave fiscal Q2 earnings guidance that came in above Wall Street's estimates, but its top-line forecast falls short.

Sentiment toward Salesforce is hinging on reacceleration in the second half of this fiscal year and "when Agentforce/Data 360 breaks out and becomes more material drivers of the overall business," said Stifel analyst J. Parker Lane ahead of earnings.

Earnings calendar recap: Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree (DLTR) is one of several retailers on the earnings calendar, with the dollar store chain disclosing its fiscal first-quarter earnings report ahead of Thursday's open.

For the three months ended May 2, the company reported earnings of $1.74 per share (+38.1% YoY) on revenue of $5.0 billion (+7.2% YoY). Wall Street was calling for earnings of $1.56 per share on revenue of $5.0 billion.

DLTR also saw better-than-expected same-store sales growth of 3.5% and gave upbeat guidance.

The results have the consumer staples stock headed for its best day since 2022, but some on Wall Street are still worried.

"We believe that DLTR has been oversold recently, but remain on the sidelines over the medium to long term," says Bernstein analyst Zhihan Ma, who has a Market Perform (Hold) rating on the retail stock. "Near term, the key metrics to watch include whether DLTR manages to return to positive traffic growth and how much freight cost headwinds vs. tariff refunds/further tariff uncertainties will impact margins."

And Jefferies analyst Corey Tarlowe, who has an Underperform (Sell) rating on DLTR, says that while it was a good quarter, he remains "cautious about the traffic trend" and consumer demand due to higher gas prices.
