McLaren have gone overboard to praise "team player" Oscar Piastri following his agonising F1 championship defeat, but the Australian expects the team to repay him by ensuring equal treatment alongside their new champion Lando Norris next season.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown and principal Andrea Stella both made a big deal of saluting the Australian in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to ensure Piastri's selflessness in his remarkable third-placed championship campaign, which fell just 13 points short of his teammate's tally, was highlighted amid all the hoopla over Norris.
The British-based team have been stung by accusations they've shown favouritism to the English driver over the Aussie in this tightest of title races, although Piastri has largely defended them on an even-handed approach to two closely matched drivers.
