LOL: Last One Laughing was a smash hit when it giggled its way onto our screens last year, with six million people tuning in. Given it rocketed straight to the top of Amazon Prime Video’s most-viewed when season one launched, the streaming platform obviously renewed it for a second round.
The format is adapted from a Japanese show called Documental, which has been running since 2016. In the UK version, 10 comedians compete in a wacky living room style-set to make each other laugh over six 30-minute episodes. If they so much as smirk, they’re given a warning. Two strikes and they’re out. The winner gets the LOL UK Trophy plus bragging rights.
