BBC The One Show presenter Lauren Laverne is well known for her work as a DJ for Radio 6. Since 2018 she has presented Radio 4's popular Desert Island Discs show.
But Lauren's music career started much earlier when she was just a teenager in college in Sunderland. While studying at City of Sunderland College she met Marie Nixon and Emma Jackson and along with Lauren's brother Peter, they formed Britpop band Kenickie.
Since then Lauren Laverne's career has continued to grow. The band had four top 40 singles in the UK and a top-10 album. But she has also appeared on a number of TV shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks and has even presented 10 O'Clock Live for Channel 4 and The Culture Show.
