CHENNAI: The track doubling work from Beach to Egmore, which is crucial for transfer of MRTS line to Chennai metro rail did not receive much funds in the budget for 2022-23 as against the total cost of the project.
The budget has sanctioned just about enough money to carry out some of the leftover work for the four other doubling projects which are almost completed. Similarly, two new lines Chennai-Cuddalore via Mamallapuram and Sriperumbudur-Guduvanchery continue to be in limbo.
