FORGOTTEN HISTORY: Lineages behind surge among vaxxed | History Defined

HYDERABAD: Coronavirus’ Delta variant and its sub-lineages were responsible for vaccine breakthrough infections in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana through the second wave of Covid-19, reveals a study by a team of city researchers. Vaccine breakthrough infections were observed in people vaccinated by either Covishield or Covaxin.

The study, involving genome-wide analysis by Asmita Gupta, Reelina Basu and Murali Dharan Bashyam of the laboratory of molecular oncology, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), revealed that there was a sudden change in the landscape of the nucleotide variations (NV) of the novel coronavirus coinciding with the second wave.
