The morning-after-the-night-before means something different for parents of young children. Not necessarily a wild night out, but one of endless cot call-outs or child nightmares. By 8am, it can feel like you’ve lived an entire day, and the prospect of another bowl of soggy Weetabix comes with a sense of dread. The answer? A properly good coffee, someone else to do the washing up, and somewhere where your child’s meltdown over a “broken” banana will be drowned out by the hiss of a milk frother.
But where to go? Some London restaurants treat the arrival of a buggy like an unwanted cargo ship laden with explosives. Others throw welcoming arms (containing colouring sheets, crayons and quick service) at families. We’ve toured the city with three kids — aged 10, 8 and 5, and with varying levels of interest in food — to find London’s best family-friendly breakfast spots.
