French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday took an apparent swipe at US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing foreign leaders of exploiting France’s recent unrest to advance their own political agendas.

Macron criticised what he called “unacceptable and stupid comments” about the violence, alleging that misleading claims and artificial intelligence-generated images were being used to portray France as overrun by migrants and Islamists.
