PUNE: Ramkumar Ramanathan and Arjun Kadhe came close to pulling off one of their best wins of their careers but fell short a t the Tata Open Maharashtra here on Tuesday.

Ramkumar produced a typical display of big serving to bounce back from being a set down, but Italian World No. 93 Stefano Travaglia packed a little more firepower to pull through in the third set for a 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-3 win in two hours and 13 minutes at the Mhalunge-Balewadi stadium.
