North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson hopes new AFL football boss Greg Swann will make some good decisions in the off-season to avoid a repeat of the "hysteria" surrounding Steven May's three-match ban.

May was found guilty of rough conduct at the tribunal on Wednesday night for the high-speed collision that concussed Francis Evans and left the Carlton forward with a broken nose and a chipped tooth.
