A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the site of New Cumnock’s £8.97m flood protection scheme.

The event on Thursday marked the completion of almost two years’ work that will now protect residential and commercial properties near the Afton Water and River Nith.

And invited guests got the chance to see the culmination of the scheme and mark a new beginning in New Cumnock’s ambitious and much heralded environmental project.
