A recent poll conducted among registered voters in New York State has revealed overwhelming support for President Donald Trump's efforts to deport illegal aliens who have been convicted of a crime. The poll found that 79% of respondents are in favor of deporting such individuals, while only 11% oppose their removal.
Interestingly, the poll results indicate a rare area of bipartisan agreement on the issue. While 69% of Democrats support the expulsion of illegal aliens convicted of a crime, a staggering 91% of Republicans also back this measure.
However, when it comes to deporting illegal aliens without a criminal record, the support is less pronounced. Only 39% of respondents support the deportation of non-criminal illegal aliens, while 42% oppose it. The divide is more significant along party lines, with 64% of Republicans supporting the idea compared to just 24% of Democrats.
Regarding the Trump administration's deportation efforts, the poll found that 48% of respondents believe New York should support federal deportation efforts, while 31% think the state should oppose them. The partisan split on this issue is stark, with 81% of Republicans in favor of supporting federal deportation efforts, while only 28% of Democrats share that view.
Prior to his 2024 presidential election victory, President Trump had pledged to initiate the 'largest mass deportation' in the nation's history, a promise that seems to resonate with a significant portion of New York State voters.
