Night shift workers in a Spanish population study developed long COVID at nearly twice the rate of day workers, but were no more likely to catch the virus in the first place.
That split is the most informative part of the finding. If overnight work raised infection risk, the obvious explanation would be exposure: more contact with the public, more shared workspaces, crowded commutes. Infection rates did not differ. What differed was what happened after infection.
