Ohio State coach Ryan Day has agreed in principle to a seven-year contract valued at $12.5 million a year, making him the second highest-paid coach in the country behind Georgia's Kirby Smart. The contract, pending approval by the university's Board of Trustees, runs through the 2031 season.
Day led the Buckeyes to a national championship just over two weeks ago, capping off a successful season where Ohio State finished 14-2. Despite a regular-season loss to Oregon by one point, the Buckeyes avenged that defeat in the playoffs.
