Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul battled his way into the men's singles semi-finals of the US$1.45 million Indonesia Open in Jakarta on Friday.

The 21-year-old Thai rising star overcame Singapore Open winner Alex Lanier of France in a three-game thriller, 21-18, 7-21, 21-17. He will face either Yishi Tanaka of Japan or Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the last four.

Panitchaphon is the only Thai player left in the Super 1000 tournament after mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran and women's singles hope Pornpawee Chochuwong bowed out on Friday.

Earlier, mixed doubles pair Dechapol and Supissara lost to Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje of Denmark 15-21, 21-14, 18-21.

It was the third time lucky for the Danish duo, who defeated the Thai pair for the first time in three meetings.

Christiansen and Boje will face defending champions Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France in the semis.

In the women's singles, Pornpawee bowed out after losing to defending champion An Se-Young 19-21, 11-21 in the women's singles quarter-finals.

Top seed and world No.1 An, who had won all of her previous 12 meetings against the Thai seventh seed, made it 13 in a row to secure her place in the last four.

An, who won her third Singapore Open crown last Sunday, is chasing her fifth title of the year. The 24-year-old will next face two-time champion Chen Yufei, who downed Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia 21-13, 22-20.

In the bottom half of the draw, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan beat Chiu Pin-chian of Taiwan 21-13, 21-12. She will face Sim Yu-Jin in the semis after the Korean eliminated Tomoka Miyazaki 21-18, 21-15, denying an all-Japanese clash.

Men's sixth seed Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan beat Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong 21-15 21-15 while Victor Lai of Canada downed Toma Junior Popov of France 21-8, 21-14.
