Carolina Panthers receiver Robby Anderson didn’t have the season anyone wanted him to have in 2021—posting career-lows in yards (519), catch rate (48.2 percent) and yards per target (4.7) fresh off a sweet two-year deal. But with a particularly important campaign ahead, the soon-to-be 30-year-old’s gotta keep a tunnel vision.
Part of that vision may include a new aesthetic for Anderson, who hinted to rapper Kodak Black that a change in uniform number could be on the horizon. On Sunday, the platinum recording artist posted a direct message from the wideout on his Instagram page that featured some potentially new-look threads.
Unless that’s just an old Derek Anderson jersey, Robby will presumably—at least based off this exchange—go from No. 11 to No. 3 in 2022. The link to Kodak Black is those Florida roots, as Anderson wore No. 3 at South Plantation High School in Broward County—home to the Pompano Beach rapper.
So, will a switch to a familiar digit help get him back in his bag? Is No. 3 the one?
He probably hopes so.
