- Labour MP Perran Moon has been administratively suspended and had the party whip removed after referring himself for investigation over a Covid bounceback loan.
- The investigation concerns claims that Mr Moon attempted to wind up his co-owned business, Autoswot Ltd, without fully repaying a taxpayer-funded loan of up to £50,000.
- Mr Moon stated that his business fully intended to repay the loan and made repayments until external market pressures forced it to cease trading in late 2022.
- The Labour Party confirmed the suspension is a precautionary measure carried out on a without prejudice basis, with no finding of wrongdoing at this stage.
- Mr Moon is the second Labour MP to face an investigation regarding Covid business loans, following a similar self-referral by Bayo Alaba in August.
