25-year-old sprinter Jemma Stapleton finished third in the 2025 Powercor Women’s Gift, Australia’s oldest and richest professional footrace.

Police say slippery road conditions appeared to have been a factor in the road accident on Koh Samui that killed 25-year-old Australian sprinter Jemma Stapleton, who was on a family holiday.

The accident occurred at 3.45pm on Wednesday on a curve along Highway 4169 in tambon Bo Put on the tourist island in the southern province of Surat Thani.
