The Astha Kunj gangrape case has brought renewed attention to the factors that can lead some men to commit sexual assault. Psychiatrists and psychologists say there is no single explanation for such crimes. Possible factors include a sense of entitlement, deviant thinking, impulsive behaviour, poor anger control, belief that the law can be evaded and, in some cases, mental illness. However, experts stressed that none of these factors can justify or excuse sexual assault.
