David Janetzki has decided to step down as deputy leader of the Queensland opposition. (AAP)

Queensland's deputy opposition leader David Janetzki has announced he will step down from the role with his family having recently faced "physical and mental health challenges".

In a statement released on Saturday Mr Janetzki said he'd advised the party room of his decision after family challenges "during the last few years".
