RARE PHOTOS: Qld stumble early in shield against desperate nsw | Rare Historical Photos

New South Wales have turned the screws on Queensland's batters at the Gabba as the bottom-placed Blues seek a win to kick-start their flagging Sheffield Shield campaign.

Queensland went to the tea break on day two at 7-170, still 150 shy of NSW's strong first innings tally.

Max Bryant (40) offered the strongest resistance among Queensland's top-order with a quickfire 40 only to shoulder arms and allow a Ben Dwarshuis delivery to cannon into his stumps.

Bryant had Queensland on the road to recovery after they struggled to 4-51 at lunch.

Jimmy Peirson (50no) and Xavier Bartlett (14no) will resume after the break.

Sean Abbott (3-44) led the way for the Blues, knocking over Jack Wildermuth (7) during the middle session, having earlier dispensed with Bryce Street (17) and Jack Clayton (1).

In a rain-affected morning session, NSW added just nine runs to their overnight 9-311.
