Scott Turner, the new Raiders interim offensive coordinator, began his news conference by expressing gratitude for the late John Robinson, a longtime college and NFL coach who passed away at 89. Turner, who played quarterback under Robinson at UNLV in the early 2000s, credited Robinson for giving him a shot with the Rebels.
Turner's request to have his father, a former NFL head coach and offensive coordinator, assist him was granted by Raiders coach Antonio Pierce. The elder Turner now serves as a senior adviser to Scott, and they collaborate on ideas regularly.
