A housing estate that was last year name the most deprived in its county is now seeing "rats as big as cats" as residents demand action on overflowing rubbish. The company in charge of most of the estate's homes has said it is reviewing bin storage.
The St James estate in central Doncaster was last year named the most deprived area in Yorkshire. Now residents are reporting a serious overflow of rubbish, claiming that the council is neglecting to take action in time, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
A concerned resident said: "We have serious problem with the amount of rubbish, rats and drug needles on the estate town flats. It gets reported to the council office on St James Street and nothing gets done for days, we have rats as big as cats jumping in people’s car tyres and running in front of you, people have children and pets, the council need to take action.”
