UNBELIEVABLE: Ryan porteous cops lengthened hibs ban as aberdeen red card appeal thrown out | History Defined

Hibs' appeal against Ryan Porteous ' red card at Pittodrie has failed.

The Easter Road star will now serve an extended four-match suspension after being dismissed for clearing out Ross McCrorie during the Edinburgh side's 3-1 defeat on Saturday.

Referee Alan Muir brandished a straight red and awarded a penalty which Lewis Ferguson converted.

Hibs boss Shaun Maloney later agreed with the spot-kick decision but signalled his intention to contest the sending off.

The club officially lodged the appeal on Tuesday but it has been swiftly rejected by the SFA - resulting in an extra game's ban for the Scotland U-21 centre-back.

The decision rules Porteous out of an upcoming Edinburgh derby with Hearts, as well as Hibs ' next outing against Dundee United.

He will also miss his side's first two fixtures following the Premiership split.

But the 22-year-old will return in time for a Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with the Jambos at Hampden on April 16.
