Samsung Electronics has announced the successful deployment of its cloud-native Standalone (SA) Core in support of KDDI’s nationwide commercial 5G SA services in Japan. This milestone marks a significant advancement in the operator’s network capabilities, offering improved reliability and faster response times essential for cutting-edge applications like cloud gaming, autonomous vehicles, real-time robotics, and immersive video experiences.
Following KDDI’s selection of Samsung to provide its 5G SA Core in February 2023, the companies have collaborated on field tests and trials to validate Samsung’s 5G SA Core performance and integrate the software into a multi-vendor environment. The recent launch saw the successful deployment and operation of Samsung’s 5G Core software using KDDI’s smart operation system, enabling efficient failure detection, root cause identification, and recovery method decision.
