Labor has found savings to the tune of tens of billions of dollars in the budget update to cover other areas, as the subsidised home battery scheme blows out by almost $5 billion.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers will hand down the mid-year budget update on Wednesday, revealing on Sunday a scheme originally slated to cost $2.3 billion will now rise to $7.2 billion.
