NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the challenge to maintainability of a PIL seeking guidelines against religious conversions through fraud, deceit and allurement and said it would lay down general guidelines prohibiting use of charity as a tool for conversion.
“We are at the stage of final hearing. We will not entertain any objection to the maintainability of the PIL and these objections are rejected. We will issue general guidelines,” the bench said and asked solicitor general Tushar Mehta to collate information about anti-conversion laws enacted by states and related information for submission before the court on December 12.
