EXPLAINED: Scots walker trapped on tiny cliff ledge for over 24 hours saved after dramatic rescue mission | Rare Historical Photos

A lucky Scots hillwalker has been plucked to safety after spending more than 24 hours trapped on a tiny cliff ledge without any phone signal.

The 72-year-old man found himself stuck in the tricky position just inches above the waterline in the Kinloch Hourn area of the Highlands around midday on Sunday, May 21.

After spending a night on the rocky cliff face, the walker eventually managed to get a weak signal on his mobile and raised the alarm with HM Coastguard.
