The Balbriggan seagull cull authorised by the Housing Minister has been slammed as "hideous" and in breach of EU law by a Government TD.
The nests and eggs of the squawking bird can be removed by "any individual" as long as they "represent a threat to public health and safety". Three breeds of seagull - the Herring, Greater Black-backed and Lesser Black-backed - are included in Minister Darragh O'Brien directive.
There have been growing calls for a seagull cull across Dublin. Public representatives say they keep people up at night, pose a risk to "health and safety" and "make life miserable" for some.
