A second star of the hit ITV show Vera has quit after the announcement of the next series. After Kenny Doughty, who played DS Aidan Healey, announced his departure from the beloved ITV detective drama "Vera," a second star of the show has confirmed they will not be returning.
Ibinabo Jack, who played DC Jacqueline 'Jac' Williams since 2018, will not be returning for the thirteenth series due to her theatre commitments. The iconic detective series has been renewed for a 13th series with Brenda Blethyn returning as DCI Vera Stanhope alongside actor and director David Leon, who makes a welcome return as Joe Ashworth.
The Rising Tide, a feature-length episode based on the eleventh Vera novel written by Ann Cleeves, will be Kenny and Ibinabo's final appearance in the series. The episode is set to be scheduled later this year, and fans will be delighted to hear that Brenda and the returning cast will be on TV screens for three new feature-length films.
