- Divers have identified the wreck of a Second World War German U-boat, U-672, off the Devon coast.
- The wreck had been sitting on the seabed, and was previously assumed to be a sunken First World War sailing vessel.
- Its 52 crew members survived after scuttling the vessel in July 1944 following an attack by HMS Balfour.
- Dominic Robinson, a Gasperados diver, said the wreck had fascinating features, including “the early Schnorchel system and the remains of the German Aphrodite radar decoy equipment”.
- The family of U-boat commander Ulf Lawaetz expressed their delight after the submarine was finally identified.
