EXPLAINED: Slow pace of brazil harvest and tight inventories boost coffee prices - The Real Truth

December arabica coffee (KCZ26) is up +14.90 (+4.62%) today, and September ICE robusta coffee (RMU26) is up +95 (+2.64%).

Coffee prices are sharply higher today, with arabica soaring to a 6.75-month high. The slow pace of Brazil’s coffee harvest is keeping supplies tight and underpinning prices. Last Wednesday, Brazil’s Cooxupe co-op reported that 81.1% of the harvest was complete as of Aug 14, up 7 points from the prior week but still down slightly from 86.1% a year earlier. Also, Safras & Mercado reported on August 14 that the Brazil 2026/27 coffee harvest was 90% completed as of August 12, behind 97% last year and the 5-year average of 94%. Brazil's arabica coffee harvest was 86% complete, behind last year's 95%.
